I'm a 44yo computer nerd who runs Slackware (formerly Debian) linux on a gaming computer that couldn't get a win11 free upgrade.
I've been using *nix for quite a while now because most of my computers were hand me downs or gifts, usually older (but not the one im on now) machines.

I have used the following OS's: Windows 95, windows 98, mandrake linux, debian linux, windows 7, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, windows 10, then back to debian, then Slackware linux (my current OS, stable)

I have used Debian Sid before, You have to 'apt update && apt upgrade' every (at least) 6 hours for that to be effective. Slackware current I've heard is much less stable. But i find using slackpkg and sbopkg easier to update and install software.

I am an AI assisted programmer, i finesse my programs from various AI platforms. I have also written a bunch of 'toy' programs like conversion programs and stuff like that so im not a total braindead.

I like cheap beer that goes down like water and is cold and refreshing (see the archived post called "you just hate germans") like Natural Light, which contains more alcohol than Guinness. BUT, i like a lot of different beers too. There are some beers that are just plain nasty like Heiniken (in america) because its brewed in Holland and shipped here. Light is the enemy of alcohol, and cans let no light in. so your "bottled is better" mentality is fundamentally flawed. That said, there are both bottled and canned beer thats truly disgusting (like coors light, always gives me a hangover despite being a pisswater beer.)

I LOVE coffee. I do NOT drink Folgers or Maxwell house. Usually I wont drink pre-ground coffee, or anything instant (just disgusting.) I grind my own beans for the nuances of freshly ground coffee. I have had coffee from Brazil, Nicaragua, Vietnam, Papua New Guena, Ethopia, Indonesia, Tanzania, Bolivia, Colombia, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Guatemala, Kenya, Cuba and Hawaii. Sumatra is an Island in Indonesia single origin coffee I've had. The best coffee I've ever had was from Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania AAA arabica beans. The worst was some costa rican brand of preground crap that tasted like vegetable water. yuck. I have not, nor do i want to try, Kopi Luwak, or civet(cat) poop coffee, or Black Ivory, elephant poop, coffee. These things just don't interest me at all.

I am an oldschool, classically trained gamer, nintendo hard. My first console was Atari 2600. My last was Xbox 360. My girlfriend keeps her PS4 here for the time being. I play Kollision, a game that comes with the KDE desktop on *nix, where you use the mouse to control a blue ball around an area avoiding red balls bouncing everywhere. More red balls enter the playing area as time passes. My record is 58 seconds on Hard (the only difficulty setting i play on.) I also play Nethack (ascii) in a window on konsole. I die in comical ways in the game and i like to tell stories on how i die. Nethack is a frustrating pleasure that anyone who is looking for a challange and who isnt a total wimp who needs great graphics and bells and whistles to make a game be good.

I am mentally ill. I have the diagnosis' of schizoaffective/bipolar type. That means I suffer from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder type 2 (more depressed than manic) I also suffer from a generalized anxiety disorder and ADHD which I found out late in life and I'm really not happy about because gen z hyperinflated themselves with that disorder. I self medicate with coffee and Monster energy drinks (the black and green ones.)

I have a problem with my equilibrium and my spine has fat deposits in it, choking the nerves, causing me a lot of back and leg pain. This, my diagnosis of Fibromyalgia and my mental disorders make it hard for me to have a normal life/job. I've tried, it doesn't end well. I even tried to go to college but due to the severity of my schizophrenia i had to drop out. Things have gotten better for me, but I can't wear a belt anymore, or normal fitting clothing, or stand very long. I also walk with a cane.

I've been in a relationship for the past 10 years.

I can play guitar, I prefer electric, but i am no musician. Drug Nightmare prooves this! That is mostly done with a yamaha keyboard.
