Why do i use elinks in 2026?

Well. I dont like seeign a site where theres 900mb of shitty graphics to produce less than 1k of information.
Lets face it, what you want is the text of these websites anyway. so why have to wait for loads of graphics that essentally do nothing but annoy the piss out of anyone aside from a 12 year old fortnite player.

if you really just want to look up something fast, not only is elinks fast as lightning, it also doesnt have annoying javascript popups shit like that. Just plain text there for getting your information.

this is where windows fails

a text browser is probably downloadable somehow on a windows machine but i dunno where to find it.
But if you have linux, and a gui, you can download the image you want to see (in a link) and it will pop up on the screen provided you have an image viewer like ocular or feh or something like that.

I also use Mutt for my ducksfeet email. no html means no preview window means no virii coming in via mail. and my signature is a random one generated with the "fortune" program on linux/unix.

I use Irssi for chat (sometimes when i space out i use ii, or my own irc client im working on (in C, with ai)

I hand coded the code to this site in nano and vim.

In fact, I WANT you to use elinks to view my site. or the text browser of your choice. I will even post a screen shot of how a website looks on elinks on KDE/Plasma with my site open.

so, final word, you want info? stick to the text brower. you need to see a video? perhaps firefox (or what-have-you) but overall, its way faster to use a text browser than a graphical one.

and some sites just look better.
